Destination Ocean

Shoes and I were chatting the other day and she mentioned that she’d never been to the ocean the entire time she’d been in North Carolina. While mildly surprising, it’s not terribly so given she’s on the far side of the state. We talked about making a trip out to the ocean. Due to work schedules, it seems like we may not get to spend as much time as hoped at the beach but hopefully that won’t kill the trip entirely.

Oooo… Large body of water! Let me know if it looks like there’s surfing there, and have fun!

I’m hoping that there will be some surfing. I suppose we’ll find out when we get there. The plan at the moment boils down to get in the car and go.

Well, I guess it comes down to a time issue. When are you going? Where are you going?

I’m going to head down there Labor Day weekend. I’m not really sure where exactly we’ll head to. The basic plan is head east until we hit ocean. One of my coworkers told that further south is better along the outer banks.

It’s water. What’s the big deal? Fill up your tub, imagine that, a lot bigger. If you’d like the idea of dangerous creatures in that water, throw in a couple pirhanna. Granted, there are shipwrecks and things, but you generally can’t see those (though in NC there are probably plenty). If it makes you feel better, throw a couple of matchbox cars in … along with some dirt so you can’t see the bottom. Then just imagine it’s really deep.

Who needs to see it? What a waste of time.

Well, looks like this trip will be delayed due to inclement weather and other craziness. Sometime later we’ll get Shoes to the ocean. In the meantime, I suppose she can take Mookee’s advice to get a small taste of the experience.
